Mastic Asphalt is one of the world’s most traditional waterproofing materials and has had a long and successful history, providing unbeatable protection from water penetration for centuries. Renowned for its high-quality appearance and robust nature, when was it first used and what makes it so appealing today.

This traditional material, comprising of limestone aggregates bound together with bitumen and more recently, modern polymers, is robust enough to withstand both foot and vehicular traffic and is both non-toxic and non-flammable. Its durability of use is one of its major benefits, with no application too tricky.

Offering a life expectancy of 50 years and more, this versatile waterproof membrane provides such excellent wear and is the ideal solution for a range of buildings including schools, offices, shopping centres, hotels and historic buildings.

Highly cost-effective, mastic asphalt offers low installation costs. The material can be delivered to site, direct from the factory, at the correct temperature for instant installation. Hot charge transporters and insulated dumpers make this possible. One 18 tonne hot charge delivery vehicle can supply enough mastic asphalt to lay 360 square metres of material to a depth of 20mm. Its versatility makes it the ideal choice for not only flat roofing but also flooring and paving.

Permascreed mastic asphalt screed is manufactured in the UK from selected bitumen’s, limestone filler and specially graded aggregates. It is designed to provide drainage falls as well as a stable base for the specified roof waterproofing system.
Permascreed can be applied at a wide range of thicknesses (minimum 10mm) and falls, usually on in-situ and pre-cast concrete bases. It is suitable for insulated warm roofs, inverted roofs, green roofs and balcony or terrace applications.

Single ply roofing systems are one of the most popular of flat roofing materials, particularly advantageous if the project has weight and load bearing considerations. The membrane is durable and resistant to the UK climate conditions, tears and punctures, yet incredibly lightweight, typically 2-3kg per square metre. The speed of installation makes it a cost-effective method.
Single Ply is quick to install and cost effective. The system is installed using hot air welding techniques with mechanical fastenings or adhesive bonding to provide solutions that are durable, resilient to the natural elements and give excellent fire resistance.
The flexibility of single ply roofing membranes enables the creation of dramatic roof designs. Decorative profiles can be hot air welded to the membrane to replicate the appearance of standing seam and batten profiles (the latter simulating the appearance of lead), while delivering reduced costs and easier installation.
